IDN welcomes the Clean Energy sector skills needs assessment

IDN welcomes the recent publication of the skills needs assessment for the clean energy sector by the Department for Education’s Skills England.

We specifically welcome the acknowledgment that skills and occupational shortages are further exacerbated by a lack of diversity in many clean energy industries across gender, ethnicity, disability, and socioeconomic background.

At a time when the nuclear sector needs to recruit in large numbers, IDN stands ready to facilitate alternative pathways into the industry, widening participation for a rich, diverse talent pool, and opening up routes into the sector for everyone – regardless of background.

IDN promotes and supports the benefits of inclusive workplaces that attract a diverse workforce. These organisations experience increased creativity and innovation, enhanced decision making, and better employee engagement. All of which lead to improved outcomes and reduced employee turnover.

We can help you address the challenges of limited diversity and inclusion in your organisation,  which can lead to

  • Limited Innovation
  • Lower Employee Engagement leads to lower productivity
  • Potential for Discrimination: tribunal cases are costly and damage reputation
  • Missed Opportunities: missing out on the creativity and problem-solving skills that diverse teams offer
  • Reduced Retention: Higher attrition and its associated costs
  • Lack of employee morale and motivation due to a lack of inclusive practices and diverse representation

IDN’s work on analysing the current landscape for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the nuclear sector has led to our inaugural Survey Report and also the recently-published Gender Pay Gap Report. The data and insights gained from these analyses informs our collaborative approach with nuclear organisations.

As we seek to address fast-paced recruitment together, IDN offers evidence-based tools, strategies, and training programmes to help increase workforce diversity and support an inclusive organisational culture.

We can help you

  • Review all the aspects that make an organisation a great place to work; robust and fit-for purpose policies, pay, conditions and benefits, to name a few
