IDN Full Survey Report Published

Today (29 October 2024), we, Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear, publish our full survey report, sharing the results and findings from the industry wide, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) survey we conducted.

We undertook this work to build our own dataset and create our first report on equity, diversity and inclusion. We wanted to move beyond anecdotal information and understand if there are different perceptions and experiences of EDI initiatives in the workplace based on respondent demographics.  We also wanted to build a picture of who is working in the industry and gain insight into who is represented.

What we found:

  • There is an experience gap between how different demographics and identities perceive and encounter inclusion, diversity and equity actions of their employers.
  • 14.7% of our survey respondents reported experiencing discrimination, bullying or harassment at their current company based on their background or identity.
  • Aspiration and a desire for career progression was largely matched by almost all our respondents, but there was a disparity across gender, race and disability with regards to confidence levels that career progression will actually be achieved in their current work environments.
  • The responses received indicate there is a desire to improve EDI efforts, with examples of good practice shared too.

The report contains all of our findings and includes recommendations.
