At Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN), research and building a strong evidence base are at the heart of what we do.
When Monica Mwanje, our co-founder and Managing Director, repeatedly came across individual gender pay gap reports from different organisations, she began to wonder—what does the gender pay gap look like across the nuclear industry as a whole? Is the gap closing or widening year on year? Do we understand the factors driving these changes? With these questions in mind, our team set out to investigate, leading to this report.
In this analysis, we examine publicly available data to determine:
- The median gender pay gap in the nuclear industry
- The mean gender pay gap in the nuclear industry
- Pay quartiles within the sector
Additionally, we have tracked the number of women working in the industry over time, using data from gender pay gap reports.
To provide meaningful context, we have compared our findings with relevant data from the Office for National Statistics and the national average for UK companies, as calculated using the UK Government’s Gender Pay Gap Service.
We hope this report serves as a valuable resource—highlighting the progress made so far and offering insight into the potential for further change.
The report is coming soon. Please check back regularly or sign up to our mailing list to be notified.
