IDN welcomes the final investment decision for Sizewell C: Working together to create the workforce of tomorrow

Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN) warmly welcomes this week’s announcement of the final investment decision for the Sizewell C project.

We stand ready to support the thousands of jobs and training opportunities this milestone will unlock, both directly, by boosting local and national economies, and indirectly, through local, national and international supply chains,

However, this announcement, marks a critical moment for collaboration. It is a time to come together to attract, train, and retain the full diversity of skills and talent needed to build a future ready workforce, and to foster a positive culture where everyone can contribute and thrive.

At IDN, our evidence-based approach helps organisations better understand workforce challenges and opportunities through an inclusion-focused lens.

By working together, we can make our sector, the ‘sector of choice’, a place where every individual is valued for their unique contribution.

As an evidenced-based organisation, IDN delivers:

  • Inclusive recruitment and outreach strategies
  • Equity-informed workforce planning
  • Culturally competent onboarding and retention frameworks
  • Training and consultancy that matches the rapid growth Sizewell C and its supply chain demands

We also recognise that much of our future talent remains untapped, often overlooked due to systemic barriers such as social disadvantage or underrepresentation. That’s why IDN actively runs projects that engage individuals early, connecting them with nuclear career pathways they may not have previously considered or had access to.

Monica Mwanje, Managing Director of IDN, said:
“Congratulations to Sizewell C on achieving this landmark final investment decision. IDN remains committed to working collaboratively with Sizewell C and other industry partners to ensure the project becomes a catalyst for a more inclusive, skilled, and sustainable workforce. Together, we can build a sector where opportunity is accessible, talent is nurtured, and everyone has the chance to contribute to a cleaner energy future.”
