The Dalton Nuclear Institute brings together the skills and expertise of the nuclear research community at The University of Manchester, covering the full nuclear fuel cycle, fusion, health and social research. Together this community forms the most advanced academic nuclear research capability in the UK.
This year, 2025, we are celebrating our 20th birthday. The Institute was founded in 2005 to create a focal point for The University of Manchester’s innovation in nuclear research, education and partnerships working.
Building on a rich legacy of nuclear research, skills and impact, we continue to create opportunities for our nuclear community at Manchester, fostering partnerships with academia, industry, regulators and governments, in the UK and beyond, as well as with the wider public.
Marking our 20th year, we launched our Expert Insights Series. This series brings together leaders from the Dalton Community and our partners to share their views and experiences across the breadth of nuclear with a wider audience. The full series can be viewed via our YouTube channel.
