About The Initiative

Our aim is to provide the wider nuclear industry
with practical support around Diversity & Inclusion.

Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN) is a standalone non-profit company. Our aim is to complement the great work and initiatives that are already happening, and to provide support and enablement at an industry-level nationwide.

Specifically, we are :

ADDRESSING all aspects of diversity; SHINING a spotlight on best practice in the UK nuclear industry so that we can see what is working in inclusion and diversity; BRINGING ideas, expertise and lessons learned from other industries and from inclusion and diversity experts; CREATING material, newsletters, workshops and events that are open to everyone in our sector; PROVIDING a safe space for people to share information, ask questions and learn

Our Background

2019

IDN was founded in 2019, following a conversation between co-founders Monica Mwanje and Callum Thomas. They observed that  ‘organisations often have high-level policies for Diversity & Inclusionbut how individuals who build, lead and manage teams can achieve it is often lacking.

2021

In 2021 IDN was incorporated as a not-for-profit standalone company, with a new company structure. We now rely on the invaluable support of an advisory board. Scroll to the bottom of the page to read about the team, or check out our News & Insights section.

Our Aim

Our aim is to future-proof the nuclear industry by helping
organisations reach and maintain a level of proficiency in Equity, Diversity,
and Inclusion.

What do we do?

We specialise in providing resources, bringing leaders
together and showcasing best practice through its events, facilitating conversations,
and advising on meaningful steps to propel change within organisations.

We have seen steady growth since our first conference in July 2019.  We have since hosted 4 annual conferences, 9 panels, and several roundtable discussions.

How can you support?

To facilitate our operations as a standalone non-profit, we’ve been running an Industry Partnership scheme, which allows us to provide extra support to a select few organisations. This partnership has allowed us to build an industry-led network of like-minded organisations, with the aim to share good practice and expand our offering.

We have bolder and bigger plans for the future, so make sure you stay updated by signing up to our newsletter!
