In 2020, Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear teamed up with EqualEngineers to hold a workshop tour.

The workshop topic is: ‘Engineering a Winning Workforce: Engaging the Majority’.

We are pleased to announce that, through a combination of in-person and online sessions, we managed to hit our target of delivering the workshop to 1000 delegates.

Workshop Objectives

• Understand your passion and what you can do to create a purpose-driven workforce.
• Evaluate your biases and how they impact on building trust.
• Identify personal and organisational barriers to inclusion and devise an action plan to overcome.
• Articulate your diversity story and become a role model for others.
• Learn how to engage with your peers, clients and employees to have better interpersonal relationships.
• Harness the benefits of positive mental health and wellbeing to thrive at work.

The training session will last for approx. 2.5 hours.

Diversity and Inclusion in UK Nuclear is a not for profit initiative. We have subsidised the delegate ticket costs for the initial pilot wave of the tour. The subsidised ticket prices for the first set of tour dates is £99+VAT per delegate.

The Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear annual conference returned to Manchester on Thursday 5 June 2025.

The all-day hybrid event enabled participants to join virtually or in-person at The Edwardian Manchester.

The theme for IDN25 was: Creating the Inclusive Workplace: Turning Intention into Action

Conference Structure

The conference began with a keynote talk from Suzy Levy, a leading inclusion expert, followed by a panel of industry leaders on how we can move from intent to action.

The afternoon offered delegates a split between a Talks Stream, enabling participants to enjoy a talk from Lee Chambers on Allyship in Action, and a second moderated panel discussion from experts across industry.

Running concurrently with the Talks Stream was the Workshop Stream which, as in previous years, operate as interactive small groups on niche topics focused around our conference theme.

IDN24 was a well-organised, informative and engaging event that promoted a community, inclusive feel and contributed to a comfortable environment. The subjects discussed were refreshing and thought-provoking and I left with new insights and contributions to be made in my workplace.

The event provides a great opportunity for attendees to broaden their professional network and share ideas and best practices with regards enhancing Inclusion and Diversity in all aspects of the workplace.

Providing an online workshop stream allowed me as a disabled person to make the most out of the event. Through this workshop I learnt how supporting our disabled employees and colleagues starts before the application process.
